| 2371578 | Primary Facility | 2015-05-20 | Complaint Inspection | No Violations Noted | OGI Paul Wyrwas and OGI-Spvr Ed Ritzer, conducted a search for an abandoned gas well, as identified on a WPA map from the 1930’s-40’s, near 439 Willowbrook Road, Apollo, PA., and the CNX Porter 1K well site (129-28874). The search was conducted using a USGS Topographic map, an EQT historic map, a Peoples legacy map, the WPA map mentioned above, and a WIS map of wells in the area. Using this information, an approximate azimuth (260 degrees from North) and distance (approx. 635 feet) were calculated from the permitted CNX well site, to the believed abandoned well location. Using our cell phones as a compass, and a Rangefinder as a measuring device, this point was located in an open field of grass, on property owned by a Mr. Craig. By chance, Mr. Craig showed up and talked with me about our reason for being there. I explained our reason and Mr. Craig indicated he has walked all over the area around there and has never seen anything resembling an abandoned gas well, or a gas well site. |
