0019485722 2006-08-07 Production Wells Violations Noted The Uniontown office received a call from Mr. Jack Hamilton, the property owner at 800 Boston Mills Road in Hudson, Ohio reporting oil in his pond behind his house. I arrived on site at 17:30. Waldron personnel arrived shortly after. The tank battery for the Boers-Krejci well is located on the neighbors property northwest of the pond. The well is owned and operated by Waldron. According to the pumper, Bob Rufener, 1) the drain valve on the stock tank leaked and overfilled the brine vault, 2) the oil/brine flowed out of the vault and into the containment area and exited the containment area through a groundhog hole, 3) The oil/brine mixture ran down gradient and entered the pond through a series of muscrat holes. The evidence supports this scenario. The net affect was a brine scald which killed scrub vegetation and a lawn area and oil in the pond. The first response was to contain and collect the oil off of the pond. This was accomplished using sorbent booms and pads. While there was no evidence that oil had left the pond, a sorbent boom was placed across the outfall. A bobcat with a hoe attachment was used to construct an intercept trench before darkness halted activity. Remediation will continue in the morning.
0309904145 2006-08-10 Production Wells Violations Noted Waldron personnel have graded and limed the impacted areas. The have also started working on the tank battery.
0463836683 2007-08-01 Production Wells Violations Noted The brine vault has been removed from the tank battery and the impacted soil stockpile has been removed. I met with Jack Hamilton who owns the property that was most impacted. He is not satisfied with the grading or the seeding. The grading however is back to the original grade. Additional seed does need to be spread near the tank battery and along Mr. Hamiltons fence row.
0501603139 2006-08-14 Production Wells Violations Noted No activity has occurred since last inspection. I called Jerry Reeves and asked him to replace the pads and booms and to seed and mulch the exposed soil. He said that the crew would be there in the morning.
0840715522 2006-08-28 Production Wells Violations Noted The impacted area needs to be reseeded and mulched. There was a light sheen on the pond that should naturally remediate. The issues at the tank battery still need to be addressed.
1162306134 2006-10-23 Production Wells Violations Noted Portions of the affected area need to limed and reseeded and the concrete vault still needs to be removed. The disposition of the excavated soil pile needs to be addressed with the property owner.
1181073789 2007-05-29 Production Wells Violations Noted No change in the status of the violation requirements. The brine vault still needs to be removed and the impacted spill area needs additional reclamation. I spoke with Jerry Reeves and restated these issues. He said that they would be resolved in the near future.
1284271918 2007-04-10 Production Wells Violations Noted The brine vault still must be removed and the impacted area needs to be limed and seeded again.
1571831506 2006-08-08 Production Wells Violations Noted Waldron personnel were on site this morning to begin removing impacted soil and to continue working on the pond. Impacted soil was placed on plastic and will either be treated on site or removed and disposed.
