Inspection Data

Inspections Performed

Inspection ID Inspection Category Inspection Date Inspection Type Inspection Result Inspection Comments
1832762 Primary Facility 2009-09-30 Routine/Complete Inspection No Violations Noted well equipped for production, tag tank e/s ok
1833985 Primary Facility 2009-10-05 Routine/Complete Inspection No Violations Noted The well is in production. Site restoration is completed. There are no signs of accelerated erosion and sedimentation on the access road or the well site. Brine tank is in sound condition The well site has approximately 85% perennial vegetative cover. Performed inspection to investigate a vandalized brine tank. The valve on the tank was opened and the plug removed, which resulted in a large volume of brine water to be released from the tank. 95% of which was contained by the dike. An undetermined amount of brine water migrated out of the dike due to the vandals removing the drain plug in the dike drain pipe, none of which traveled into any water of the commonwealth. The vandals also removed a copper line from the production equipment, which is replaced at the time of inspection.
1834856 Primary Facility 2009-10-05 Compliance Evaluation No Violations Noted DOMINION CALLED AND REPORTED A BRINE DISCHARGE DUE TO VANDALISM. STATE POLICE WERE THERE INVESTIGATING WHILE I WAS ON LOCATION. IN MY OBSERVATION, DOMINION USED A DIKE AROUND THE BRINE TANK TO CONTAIN ANY UNFORESEEN SPILLS EVEN THOUGH THE LAW DOES NOT REQUIRE DIKES ON BRINE TANKS. THERE WAS ALSO A FENCE AROUND THE DIKE TO KEEP PEOPLE OUT AND A LOCKED GATE AT THE POINT OF ACCESS ROAD. THESE PRECAUTIONARY MEASURES KEPT THE SPILL MOSTLY CONTAINED AND MINIMIZED ANY ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT. NO BRINE MADE IT TO THE CREEK AND CREWS WERE DEPLOYED IMMEDIATLY TO CLEAN UP THE BRINE THAT WAS CONTAINED IN THE DIKE. I APPRECIATE THE NOTIFICATION AND WOULD STRONGLY URGE DOMINION TO CONTINUE TO LOCK GATES, FENCES, VALVES, ETC AND USE DIKES AT EVERY TANK TO PREVENT FUTURE INCIDENTS
