Pennsylvania Oil & Gas Regulatory Staffing

Discussion of regulatory staffing in the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (PA DEP), Oil and Gas area is particularly tense. As well permits issued and wells built has boomed in the Marcellus Shale, there has been question over whether staffing has been adequate to do the tasks of issuing permits, reviewing permit applications, inspecting tens of thousands of active wells, and other duties related to oil and gas extraction regulation.[1] The data below is provided by the PA DEP, through ProPublica, under a Creative Commons 3.0 license.
