Further inspection found illegal venting of natural gas from the annulus of the 4 1/2 casing. There was an open gate valve allowing the release of natural gas from the well. There was also an elbow off the other side of the 4 1/2 that was open. There is a large area of contamination at the well head, affecting an area of approximately 6X6. The well utilized an electric motor and a pumping unit to produce the well. The well is capable of production. The venting of natural gas must cease or it must be properly flared. The contaminated soil must be removed from location and properly disposed of in a manner which complies with State rules and regulations. The stuffing box needs tightened as do some of the connections on the production lines to prevent the release of oil and/or brine. Proper ID will be posted at the well site. |
