1083524860 2004-04-22 CASE 04-016 The Uniontown office received a call from the Portage County EMA on 04/21 reporting an oil spill on Fisher Road in Palmyra Township. The stock tank had been overfilled and oil was running north along the lease road, possibly affecting a neighboring pond. On 04/22, I inspected the site and found that the stock tank had been overfilled but a majority of the release was contained within the containment dike. It appeared that less than 1/2 barrel had seeped through a dike drain and affected the western edge of the lease road. The Great Lakes pumper was on site collecting oil from inside of the dike with sorbent pads. He estimated the total release at two to three barrels. I recommended using peatsorb on the affected areas outside of the containment dike. Continue to collect free oil inside of the dike and remediate the affected areas.
16220684 2004-06-02 CASE 04-016 The tank battery spill has been remediated.
-980069982 2004-04-27 The site remediation is continuing. Remove and properly dispose of the saturated sorbent pads both inside of the containment dike and along the lease road. The violation should be resolved in the near future.
