| 2170739 | 2013-05-06 | Violation(s) Noted | Late on 3 May 2013, it was discovered that the brine tank at this well site had overflown and spilled an estimated 4-5 bbls of brine/oil mixture to the ground. The operator reported the spill to DEP outside of normal duty hours.
Inspector arrived at the site on 6 May 2013 and cleanup operations were still ongoing. The crew was excavating flow pipes and had disconnected production equipment from the well head. Piping and equipment had been placed on containment. The spilled contaminant had been recovered and hauled for disposal. The spill did not reach the creek. This is a violation of 35 P.S. ﾧ 302(a) and concurrently violations of 25 PA Code ﾧ 78.57(a) and ﾧ 78.54. Due to limitations of eFACTs it is recorded as a SWMA 301 violation.
