1543429022 | 2018-11-28 | Production Wells | No Violations | On the day of my inspection I found that the well was equipped with an electric powered pumping unit. The motor, drive belts and electric were intact. The flow lines were connected at the wellhead and the well was venting a little gas through a relief valve. The production equipment consisted of one 100 barrel steel tank in an earthen dike. There were no leaks or spills around the wellhead or tank. There was no identification posted at the wellhead or tank. The contract pumper showed up while I was at the site and he started the well briefly. He told me that the well mostly makes oil and very little gas. He said that he knew the well as the Brillhart. He gauged the tank and left. There has been some discrepancy as to the correct identification of this well. Mason Drilling has been reporting production under permit 3065. After research into the well files, original plat map, satellite imagery and the Ohio Fuel Maps I have determined that the information points to the Mohler 1, permit 0698 as the correct well identification. The well records show that this well was drilled in 1955 and plugged in 1961. The last known well owner was Ditch & Hanna. I found no records of a permit to reopen, and I found no records showing how it was reopened, with regards to well construction. I measured the tubing diameter at 2-3/8 inches. The production casing was set down in the wellhead with none of the casing exposed. I was able to measure the diameter of the casing collar at 6 inches, which indicates the production casing is likely 5-1/2 inches in diameter. There was no other casing visible at the surface. The plugging report from 1961 shows that there was 166 feet of 8 inch diameter conductor casing left in the hole. It does not indicate how much of the surface and production casing was removed or left in. I called John Mason to let him know what I had found. He said that he bought the property and well 3 or 4 years ago. He said that the well was equipped just as it is now when he b |
1660701495 | 2018-12-04 | Production Wells | No Violations | On the day of my inspection I met with DOGRM surveyor Tom Smith to survey the well location. Tom said that the well was plotting 27 feet off the original plat location, and he agrees that I have correctly identified the well. |
