==== Fluid Composition Data ====
==Leaks and Lawsuits==

In 2011, Chesapeake Energy was given contracts to drill three wells on Trax Farm properties. As of 2012, all three wells have been drilled, fracked and capped (Well Pad A). The well is not yet active and will not go into production until a new pipeline coming through Union Township is sold.<ref>http://themarcellusshale.com/update-on-shale-drilling-at-trax-farm/</ref>

EQT took over operation of the wells and began developing its own wells in surrounding areas in Fall 2012.

On December 19th, 2013, Pennsylvania Supreme Court declared Act 13 to be unconstitutional in favoring “control in favor of a statewide standard guiding where natural gas wells could be drilled.<ref name="name">http://www.post-gazette.com/local/marcellusshale/2014/02/23/Pennsylvania-Supreme-Court-ruling-buoys-residents-near-Trax-Farm-well/stories/201402230124#ixzz2uC89Ap3t</ref> Due to inconveniences including noise, gas release, and poor air quality. Act 13 municipal zoning restrictions were challenged by the Supreme Court in February 2014 and changes made are believed to empower townships to challenge gas development. Further arguments include adding environmental controls on well operators as part of permit qualifications.<ref name="name" />

====Parties Involved====

*[[Chesapeake Appalachia LLC]]: Previous operator of the well until Fall 2012

*Pennsylvania State Environmental Health Project: Non-profit environmental group that has installed air moniters in the homes of residents nearby wells

*[[Union_Township,_Washington_County,_Pennsylvania|City of Union]] Township: Peter Grieb: municipal consultant, zoning enforcement officer

*EQT: Current operator of Trax Farm Wells. Represented by Linda Robertson, Manager of Media Relations with EQT

====Community Impact====

*Complaint of fumes release. Resident began to “develop red spots on his head, eyes, and cheeks, which took up to two hours to subside.”<ref name="name" />

*Noise complaints from multiple residents. Complaints made related to closeness of homes to well pad (between 500 metres to 750 metres away) and the noise made from the wells.

*Complaints related to the proximity of wells to homes. Complaints referencing Greene County Fire.<ref>http://uk.reuters.com/article/2014/02/11/us-usa-explosion-chevron-idUKBREA1A1UD20140211</ref><ref name="name" />

====Company Response====

*EQT has offered time and energy into resolving community concerns. Company finished 11 more wells in the surrounding area on February 2014 and has held township meetings to discuss Trax wells.

*EQT has proposed using a “different rig,” which is promised to be “less noisy and have fewer emissions.”

*EQT has provided hotel vouchers and sound studies to the community.

*EQT has offered $50,000 in compensation per household. However, taking the money “releases EQT from any liability having to do with property or health damage.”

*Company has reported that most residents have taken the deal.

====Allowances Made====

Mr. Grieb, the Union's zoning enforcement officer has initiated meetings with EQT to confront noise and emission issues.

Union Township has set thresholds for noise. Proposals have been made to offer well sites conditional permits based on their noise production.

====Current====

Residents find that Supreme Court ruling to declare Act 13 unconstitutional is an empowerment for community control and an attempt to regulate the oil and gas industry.<ref>http://stateimpact.npr.org/pennsylvania/2014/02/21/pa-supreme-court-will-not-reconsider-act-13-decision/</ref>

| This inspection was conducted in response to a report of a chemical release and smoke billowing from the pad. Upon arrival at the pad it was noted that three diesel generators were operating on the pad. The diesels periodically released black smoke when they came under load during pipe stripping operations. Smoke did not appear to be excessive at the time of inspection. The site inspection was conducted concurrently with inspections for its associated wells.

| On 8/18/2017 an RTNC inspection of the Trax Farms well site was conducted in response to a prior discussion with operator personnel about the condition of the wet pond on the site.  The following was observed:
 +
 +
>> The wet pond area was generally well vegetated at the time of inspection with a mixture of the required plant types as well as various other plants.  Two large bare patches were noted.
 +
 +
>>Chain link fence was installed around the wet pond area to prevent wildlife from grazing on plantings.
 +
 +
>>Twelve wells were observed on site at the time of inspection.
 +
 +
>>As with prior inspections a number of areas of sparse growth were noted on some of the very steep slopes around the site.

2166334 Primary Facility 2013-05-09 Routine/Complete Inspection No Violations Noted
2291566 Primary Facility 2014-07-02 Routine/Complete Inspection No Violations Noted Pioneer rig 70 engaged in drilling operations on-site at time of inspection. No leaks of fluids fluids noted. Slip area adjacent to northwest area of pad is matted. No other E&S issues noted.
2293888 Primary Facility 2014-07-24 Routine/Complete Inspection No Violations Noted Slip area adjacent to northwest area of pad has vegetative growth. No other E&S issues or dust noted. Department recommends operator ensure slip doesn't threaten to compromise integrity of the well pad. Department also recommends operator review reclamation plan and submit modification of ESCGP if necessary.
2306013 Primary Facility 2014-06-20 Routine/Partial Inspection No Violations Noted This inspection was conducted in response to a report of a chemical release and smoke billowing from the pad.
2306033 Primary Facility 2014-09-17 Routine/Complete Inspection No Violations Noted Site ID sign was correct. ESCGP was on-site. AST was erected on pad. No E&S issues noted. Well labels need updated. The site inspection was conducted concurrently with inspections for its associated wells. Wells on this pad target the Marcellus or Geneseo layers.
2349790 Primary Facility 2015-03-05 Routine/Complete Inspection No Violations Noted
2405498 Primary Facility 2015-08-27 Routine/Complete Inspection No Violations Noted On 8/27/15, I performed an inspection with WQS Bryon Miller on the Trax Farms site and made the following observations:
2627148 Primary Facility 2017-08-18 Routine/Complete Inspection No Violations Noted On 8/18/2017 an RTNC inspection of the Trax Farms well site was conducted in response to a prior discussion with operator personnel about the condition of the wet pond on the site. The following was observed:

>> The wet pond area was generally well vegetated at the time of inspection with a mixture of the required plant types as well as various other plants. Two large bare patches were noted.

>>Chain link fence was installed around the wet pond area to prevent wildlife from grazing on plantings.

>>Twelve wells were observed on site at the time of inspection.

>>As with prior inspections a number of areas of sparse growth were noted on some of the very steep slopes around the site.

2692906 Primary Facility 2018-02-09 Site Restoration No Violations Noted On 2/9/18 a restoration inspection was conducted at the Trax Farms Pad A in response to an operator submitted request for permit termination. The site was found to be in good condition with no issues found to prevent termination.
2756098 Primary Facility 2018-07-25 Routine/Complete Inspection No Violations Noted This well has been completed and is producing. The well and site appear to be well maintained.
