Inspection Data

Inspections Performed

Inspection ID Inspection Category Inspection Date Inspection Type Inspection Result Inspection Comments
1932458 Primary Facility 2010-12-02 Routine/Complete Inspection No Violations Noted Well in production. Pad contains 2 wells (2H and 5H). Cellars contain rainwater, however no bubbling in cellar. 2 production tanks onsite and contained. 13 total brine tanks onsite.
1987739 Primary Facility 2011-06-27 Routine/Complete Inspection No Violations Noted The site is utilized as a water processing facility for flowback material. Layne Christensen Company is the Chesapeake subcontractor responsible for managing operations at the site. We met with Paul Goon, Site Manager, of Layne Christensen Company. There are ten (10) raw water tanks containing flowback water from completions and production operations from various Chesapeake well pads. The flowback water goes through a filtering process consisting of three (3) stacks of 13 inch tall filter discs of 50 micron filtering capacity. The filtering process separates the solids and the liquids in the flowback water. The liquid portion of the flowback goes into to ten (10) filtered water tanks to be reused for completions operations at Chesapeake sites. The solids are sent to a landfill for disposal. There were no violations or issues observed during the inspection.

Andrew Hobbins represented the Department. Matt Chilson was on site for Susquehanna Services to operate the WMGR123 permitted waste processing facility on site.

The site ID sign, E & S plan and weekly inspection logs were on site and available for review. Earth disturbance work had recently been conducted at the southeast corner of the pad. It appeared as though a drain had been installed. The Department observed the plans to be modified to show the installation of the drainage feature. Eric Hottenstein, Environmental Supervisor with Chesapeake, stated that the drain was installed because there was an issue with standing water at the southeast corner of the pad. Mr. Hottenstein verified that the drain had a valve that was to remained closed unless site conditions warranted the opening of the valve. The disturbed earth was observed to be stabi
