2501161 | Primary Facility | 2016-07-06 | Routine/Complete Inspection | Pending | Arrived @ 09:00. Weather: warm and sunny. This inspection was prompted by an Application for Inactive Well Status for the Ridenour NW Sul 4H. No company representatives were on site. There were 3 wells spudded on a 6-slot setup. The Ridenour NE SUL 1H (113-20145) was in production, and tagged. The other wells were not identified. My observations on the three wells are listed below:
The first well had a conductor cap, so it was identified as the Ridenour S SUL 5H (113-20148), since it was the only well with a conductor cap. This well’s regulatory inactive status expires on 09/20/18. The well was locked. The 20” x 13-3/8” annulus was fitted with a gas check cap and not open to the dump line. Field monitoring yielded 17% LEL methane at the vent. None of the other vents were accessible for monitoring. On 04/19/13 Chesapeake reported bubbling in this well cellar and installed the conductor cap. I contacted Chesapeake to request a follow-up inspection with staff. The result of my current inspection is pending tha |
2525299 | Primary Facility | 2016-07-11 | Routine/Complete Inspection | No Violations Noted | Arrived @ 09:45. Weather: sunny, with a breeze. For this follow-up inspection, I arranged to meet with a Chesapeake representative. Met with Joel Mincer (Chesapeake) so that he could open annular vents to further evaluate methane detections noted in my previous inspection (7/6/16 - 2501163). There were 3 wells spudded on a 6-slot setup. The Ridenour NE SUL 1H (113-20145) was in production, and tagged.
Joel Mincer confirmed that the well with the conductor cap was the Ridenour S SUL 5H (113-20148). This well’s regulatory inactive status expires on 09/20/18. He removed the gas check cap on the 20” x 13-3/8” annulus. Monitoring with an Altair 5x gas meter (calibrated 7/11/16) detected 15% LEL. A second monitoring detected 9% LEL. These results were consistent with my previous inspection (7/6/16, 2501161). Mincer was not able to confirm this with his meter. Monitoring at the open 13-3/8”x 9-5/8” annulus with the Altair 5X yielded 66% methane, Mincer’s meter detected 8% methane. There were no violations at thi |
2537346 | Primary Facility | 2016-10-05 | Routine/Complete Inspection | No Violations Noted | Arrived @ 12:30. Weather: sunny, warm. There were 3 wells spudded on a 6-slot setup. This was a follow-up inspection of the Ridenour S SUL 5H to determine whether low levels of combustible gas at the 20” x 13-3/8” annulus observed on 2 previous inspections (7/6/16 IR# 2501161, 7/11/16, IR# 2525299) persisted or were changing with time. Using an Altair 5X gas meter (calibrated 10/5/16) and a gas collection hood that fit over the 2” gas check valve, I obtained variable readings which peaked at 30% LEL. On 7/11/16 15% LEL was detected at the open annulus. These results were consistent with my previous inspection (7/6/16). Previously, on 4/19/13 Chesapeake reported intermittent bubbling in the Ridenour S SUL 5H cellar and installed a conductor cap. At the 13-3/8” x 9-5/8” annulus, no combustible gas was detected. A follow-up inspection will be conducted to monitor changes at the annulus vent. No violations noted at this time. Left location at 14:00. |
2545911 | Primary Facility | 2016-12-13 | Routine/Complete Inspection | No Violations Noted | Arrived @ 12:00. Weather: sunny, snow on the ground. There were 3 wells spudded on a 6-slot setup. This was a follow-up inspection of the Ridenour S SUL 5H to determine whether low levels of combustible gas at the 20” x 13-3/8” annulus observed on 2 previous inspections (7/6/16 IR# 2501161, 7/11/16, IR# 2525299, 10/5/16, IR # 2537346) persisted or were changing with time. Using an Altair 5X gas meter (calibrated 12/6/16) and a gas collection hood that fit over the 2” gas check valve, I did not detect combustible gas. At the 13-3/8” x 9-5/8” annulus, no combustible gas was detected. No violations noted at this time. Left location at 12:45. |
2628977 | Primary Facility | 2017-08-24 | Routine/Complete Inspection | No Violations Noted | Arrived @ 13:20. Weather: sunny. 3 wells. 2 fracced and awaiting drill out, 1 in production. Annuli on fracced wells shut in and not plumbed to dump tank. Grady rentals onsite. Left @ 13:40 |
2722837 | Primary Facility | 2018-04-25 | Routine/Complete Inspection | No Violations Noted | Containment down around well heads. A workover rig is expected to be on location in the next month. |
2827330 | Primary Facility | 2019-01-14 | Routine/Complete Inspection | No Violations Noted | Chesapeake Appalachia submitted a Well Site Restoration Report (WSRR) for the Ridenour pad. The WSRR was received by the Department on 1/14/19. Arrived onsite at 10:38, the weather was ~20°F and calm. The pad was very icy and some areas had ruts from vehicles. The gate was open when I arrived.
There were 3 properly tagged Marcellus wells staged for production. The well cellars and surrounding area were filled with water and frozen (Photo #2). There were 3 GPUs, 3 sand separators, and 2 produced water tanks onsite and in secondary containment. The site was greater than 70% vegetative cover and no E&S issues were observed. It appeared that PCSM had been addressed and was functioning as intended. Some temporary E&S BMPs remained in place around the site. These temporary measures should be removed prior to the submission on an NOT. The Department recommends acknowledging the WSRR. No violations noted. |
