Mark Barbier (ARD Operating) called the Department at 18:01 on 1/20/2018 to report the release of 176 gallons of a 30% methanol/water solution. The methanol/water mixture was released from a failed ball valve on the 4H(081-20563). 250 gallons of the released methanol/water mixture and melt water was vacuumed from the 3H well cellar later that night.

At approximately 13:45 on 1/22/2018, I met onsite with Mark Barbier and Rick Hall (both ARD). They showed me the failed valve leading to the 4H well and the excavated flow path into the 3H cellar. Material from the flow path across several feet of the pad surface had been excavated and placed in a overpack drum for disposal.  The material under the excavation was frozen solid.  I was only able to drive a digging bar 1/4 inch into the frozen surface.
