Well was being cemented at 8 gpm. This rate caused an overflow of oil based mud at the well head. This overflow was not immediately recognized. Multiple levels of containment were breeched and the mud made it to the surface of the pad. A small area of stone on top of felt lined material was contaminated with this material. Most of the mud had been removed at the time of inspection either by vac'ing or through absorbents. Crews continued to lay absorbent material on any spilled material that had not yet been removed. Absorbent material was then being removed for proper disposal.

Previous incident response was pending. Follow-up on 2-23-12 resulted in NOVIO.
