0116437825 2018-03-20 Orphan No Violations Orphan well status inspection, accompanied by landowner Ben Kasler: Upon inspection, it is observed that this well is expressed at the surface as an open hole/subsidence which is approximately 24 in diameter and narrows to a circular wellbore which is approximately 12 in diameter. The wellbore is bridged off approximately 24 down with soil which has caved in from the surface. There is currently a large rock placed over the subsidence to keep people from falling in. Mr. Kasler stated that the wellbore used to be open for a long way and a rock would travel for 10 or more seconds before hitting fluid when dropped down the well. RBDMS records indicate that the well was plugged with prepared clay in 1964 and that all casing strings were pulled during plugging. This well is part of the Athens #2 Orphan Well Plugging Project which is scheduled to be bid out in July of 2018.
