I also contacted Steve Opritza at DOGRM Central Office to ask if he can find a plugging report for this well. He could not find a report. He changed the well status to NF for Not Found. He suggested that I have Gene Matheny file a plugging affidavit. Once the affidavit is submitted he will change the status to PA. I put together a plugging affidavit, a copy of the original plugging permit and a copy of the well card to be delivered to Gene Matheny. |
| 1459266017 | 2016-03-29 | Final Restoration | No Violations | I received a call from Gene Matheny of Mare Energy in regards to the status of this well. RBDMS is showing the status as producing. Gene Matheny claimed that he personally plugged this well in the fall of 2001. I did find record of a plugging permit being issued in August 2001. There were no inspection reports or plugging records available for this well. Matheny and I walked out to the site where he claimed the well used to be located. The GPS coordinates stored in RBDMS plotted the well within 25 feet of where Matheny and I were standing. The site was a flat grassy area surrounded by agricultural fields. The well plotted just off of a lease road that is still in use for the Ringwalt 2, permit 3442. I found a section of exposed flow line where the number 2 well used to tie in with the number 1. The flow line and tank battery are still in use for permit 3442. I found no existing well, or exposed well casing. I found no evidence of a leaking plugged well. The number 2 well is owned by Jim Samples, who also came out to the site and claimed that this well was plugged and abandoned. I contacted the previous ODNR inspector Rocky King, who also claimed that well was plugged. Gene Matheny of Mare energy is requesting that the well status be changed to FR. |
