| 0353507020 | 2017-07-26 | Orphan | No Violations | Orphan well status inspection: Upon inspection, it was observed that the well is steadily leaking gas to the surface past the concrete lid and soil covering it. Upon hand excavation of the soil and removal of the concrete lid, it was observed that the fluid level is 24 down inside the 14 diameter casing. Green colored oil is present on top of the fluid column. A weighted line on a depth indicator reel was lowered into the wellbore and sat down at a depth of 59. The Industrial Scientific Ventis gas meter showed a methane concentration of .67%. Photos were taken of the well location and access point. |
| 0805597245 | 2016-06-16 | Orphan | No Violations | On location to check the status of this orphan well. Upon inspection, it was observed that the landowner has covered the well back up with soil. Gas can be heard and smelled flowing from the 14 well casing. There is no vegetation growing in the soil covering the well. Standing water on top of the soil tested 0 ppm chlorides with a low range Quantab. There is a small ephemoral stream 30 south of the well which currently has very little flow. There is a large sycamore tree overhanging the well which will need to have several large branches removed prior to moving a rig in. 20-30 tree saplings will also need to be removed. Seasonal tall weeds/grasses will have to be mowed down if the well is plugged in the summer months. No overhead utitilies were observed on or around the well location. The location is remote and there are very few residences nearby. Ingress/egress from the location will be off of Jenkins Rd. Gravel will need to be brought in to serve as a base for mobilizing a rig and support equipment. No water wells were observed within 500 of the well head. Current SEM score is 155. New photos were taken. |

The well has a static water level close to the surface with green oil floating on the water, possibly Berea oil, and gas discharging to the atmosphere. Geological Survey ticket for this well indicated that the well was abandoned in 8-25-1953. It was producing from the Clinton Sandstone before it was abandoned. Mr. Ross uncovered the well while doing some maintenance work for a friend in a pasture next to Jenkins Road. This will probably go into the I & O program. Im anticipating the owner of the field will contact me tomorrow about the well. |
