1357774255 2013-01-09 Production Wells No Violations The above operator called to report a 15 barrel crude oil spill from a broken flowline. The line was struck by a plow. The oil was mostly contained in a ditch in a plowed field. The ditch was dammed up on each end and a vacuum truck was brought in to remove the oil from the ditch. 10-12 barrels of oil were removed this date. The clean-up crew will work thru the night to keep the ditch from overflowing from the melt water running into it and to collect all the oil coming out of the soil. .

Siphon dams put in the ditch are working and there was only a very small amount of residual oil on the water. The water was coming in too quickly for the water truck to keep up and a diversion ditch was put in parallel to the collection ditch to keep the water out. The collection ditch was then drawn down by the vacuum truck and all oil was removed. Only a very small amount of residual oil remains. Any subsequent residual oil that appears will be removed with diapers or booms.

There are a few small pockets of residual oil on the surface of the water in the ditch and a couple outside of the ditch. These were all cleaned up with diapers. The total amount of oil is estimated to be less than .5 gallons.

A small amount of oil can be seen under the ice. Clean-up will resume when it thaws enough to get to the oil. The ditch is isolated so no oil can get out.
