1465326607 2015-05-27 Production Wells No Violations Bill Castro contacted the Ohio EPA on behalf of Larry Yarmon regarding a pile of soil with residual oil as a result of cleanup activities from an oil leak from the Yarman #1 (3408324226). The well is operated by BIJO Development Co. Thomas Benko inspected the site after receiving the complaint from Rikki Knerr of the Ohio EPA; 614-728-3825 on May 27, 2015. The release occurred in March of 2015 due to cold weather causing the flow line to freeze and oil and brine pushed out of the well stuffing box. The oil and brine remained on the property and did not enter water of the state or any field tile. The surficial soils were impacted from the pump jack to a fence line about 20 feet from the pump jack and from the fence line down the slope about 150 feet and not more than 10 feet wide. The operator spread straw on the release area, and then utilized a small dozer to scrape the surface soils to create a storage area for the soils. Approximately two (2) yards of impacted soil were generated. The landowners concern was the potential negative effects of the impacted soils on the cattle livestock. Contact with the landowner was made and a plan of action for a resolution was developed. The operator will move the impacted soil pile up slope to an area next to the fence. Additionally the operator will install an electric fence to isolate the impacted soil pile for on-site remediation. The landowner will assist in the actions by delivering manure for spreading and tilling into the soil pile.
