1118171937 2005-06-07 Orphan No Violations Inspect Well as complaint. Well was discovered during the excavation of a foundation for new home construction. Recommended moving proposed house. Backfill excavation thus a rig can set on well for plug. Well appears to have been plugged no casing. A piece of 2 inch pipe was located during excavation. Well is leaking oil to surface. May have been plugged with lime stone screening. Well location is N41.41204 W83.27841.
1127741551 2005-09-22 Orphan No Violations Met on site with Bob Harpster. Operator encountered obstruction in well at a depth of approximately 394 feet. After drilling on the obstruction for about 3 hours and making no progress, drilling was stopped. The operator was using a new 5 1/2 inch bit on a rotary rig and had good circulation. Bob said tubing had to be heated to unscrew due to pressure applied during drilling. Check with ODNR geologist Jim Glass indicated that the lowest depth of the freshwater zone in the area is approximately 300 feet. Since drilling has exceeded depth of freshwater zone the operator will be allowed to plug the well at the achieved depth.
1150298750 2006-06-07 Orphan No Violations Well was plugged 9/24/05. There was no sign of the well on the property. The basement excavation for the house where the well was encountered was backfilled and the house constructed away from the well location. Final restoration approved.
1258972519 2005-09-24 Plug / Plug Back No Violations Inspect Well. Plug well. Steel ball at 395 feet. Six inch casing located during clean out about 30 feet below grade. Oil was present at surface for well previously plugged before 1950s.
