1156526236 | 2006-08-24 | Orphan | No Violations | Inspection this day found old well with wood casing in the shape of a square - does not go below 1 or 2 below ground. Can look in hole (about 6) and see oil and gas bubbling about 5 down - probably contaminating the ground water? Silver steel tank nearby and piece of 6 casing about 3 long laying beside well. Landowner thought this was #7352 - says the only well he knows of on his place but I believe an old well, showing up on topo map but not Ohio Fuel map. Probably only 600 deep. When permitted #7352, this well showed up on the survey. Still looking for #7352. |
1459435731 | 2016-03-28 | Orphan | No Violations | Found this well while looking for P#27352. The well consists of open wooden conductor in the shape of a square. There is an odor of crude oil and natural gas emanating from the well bore. The well leaks old occasionally and there is contaminated soil around the well casing. Fluid can be heard gurgling in the well and can be seen about 6 downhole. There is a 100 bbl tank near the well which is empty and not in use. There are pieces of plastic flow line laying around the tank. The well is near a farm field and appears to be orphan. Photos were taken of the location. I left a business card for the landowner to call me about the well. I will prepare a referral packet for the Orphan Well Program. |
1461184613 | 2016-04-20 | Orphan | No Violations | On location to gather information for Orphan Well Program referral packet. Upon inspection, it was observed that the well is idle and incapable of production. The well consists of open 10x7 ID wooden casing which appears to run to approximately 10 deep. There is no other casing visible in the well bore. The well flows oil onto the ground surface periodically. Fluid level was measured and found to be 11 downhole. There is an area of dead vegetation due to years of oil release which has run down a small ditch behind the tank to a small pit/depression. There is free oil product floating in the ditch as well as the pit. The affected area measures 12 wide by 75 long, originates around the well casing, and stops where it has overflowed the small pit. There is a 100 bbl tank located 6 from the well which is empty and no longer in use. There is a 4 long section of 12 casing laying between the well and tank. There are also several 4-6 long sections of 1.5 black plastic flow line scattered around the tank which are not in use. There is a small drainage ditch 100 E of the well which flows to a pond located 220 SW of the well. No oil was observed in the ditch or pond. No lease road was located for the well. The site evaluation matrix score is 221. |
1481053411 | 2016-11-16 | Orphan | No Violations | My inspection today is needed to finish up gathering data for the referral to the Orphan Well Program. Fluid, which appears to be oil, is about 6 down and you can hear gas bubbling up through the oil. Oil contaminated soil and paraffin around the casing indicate that this well in the past has unloaded onto the ground. The casing is square and wooden, being about 10 across. The 100 barrel tank sits about 6 southwest of the well and has contaminated soil also around it. The Ohio Fuel Gas map shows many wells in this immediate area that were drilled before 1900 and plugged in the 1950s, producing from the Cow Run Sandstone. This is the 2nd well on this property and has a SEM of 221. Pictures taken. |
