The Operator reported a 20 barrel brine and oil spill on Sunday 3/30/2014 @ 20:26. The Department notes that the report is within accordance the current spill policy. During the site inspection the Department observed an area approximately 80' x80' of disturbed area from the excavation of contaminated soil from the aforementioned spill. The Operator indicated that the spill was a result of possible vandalism. The spill originated at the tank valve which was previously found open. The Open valve appeared to spill approximately 20 barrels of brine and approximately 5 barrels of crude oil. The Department also observed two area of oil contaminated soil leading toward a steep hillside. The Department followed these two areas to their termination point approximately 60' down the hillside. The Operator immediately responded to the spill and hired McCutcheon Enterprises to assist with clean up. |
