1392916838 2014-02-20 Production Wells No Violations A request was received from the landowner to inspect the well to see if it would be eligible for the idle and orphan program. An inspection was made with Tom Benko. There is an open 10 inch casing at the well location. There was a steel cover over the casing that has rusted through. The casing itself is rusted through. There is salt staining on the casing. Water inside the casing tested at 417 to 420 ppm on a Quantab Chloride test strip. A weighted line was dropped down the well bore and the top of an obstruction, possibly an old clay plug, was measured 76 ft down hole. Historical information indicates the well was plugged. Brine is making its way to the surface, no oil was observed during inspection.
1504043638 2017-08-28 Orphan No Violations I tried to contact the land owner Patricia Dawson who does not live on the property where the well is located. Division inspection reports show there is an abandoned well with exposed 10-inch diameter casing with fluids on the inside. This day they were spraying in the field and I did not try to walk to the well. I was able to talk to a neighbor who gave me Mrs. Dawsons phone number. I called but no answer. On 08-30-17 at 10:39 AM, I contacted Mr. & Mrs. Dawson at 419/736-3534. They told me the well used to leak water but now is not leaking. They would like the well looked at and the casing removed from the farm field.
1506366753 2017-09-21 Orphan No Violations Well is shown as HP or Historic Production. I met the land owners Phillip and Patty Dawson at the well site to start an Orphan Well Application. The well casing has 10-inch inside diameter and 10.75-inch outside diameter steel casing. The casing is open, corroded badly and protrudes 11 inches above grade. There is fluid on the inside that is at ground level. I used a low range field quantab that read 7.8 or 643 ppm chlorides. I ran a weighted line counter to a depth of 64 feet. Mr. Dawson says the well has flowed out onto the ground surface in the past. The well card shows it as a Clinton well with a depth of 2873 feet. Records show 95 feet of 10-inch, 288 feet of 8 inch, 1,986 feet of 6 inch and 2,873 feet of 3 inch. This is an old Ohio Fuel and Gas well drilled in 1946. This well is in a crop field. The Division has no plug records or documents if plugged or not. This property belongs to the Dawsons and is parcel # D11-003-0-0003-00 consisting of 64,29 acres and under the name of Coolstream Farm LLC. I took 13 photos and started an Orphan Well Application. A Right of Entry form has been obtained.
1515991500 2014-02-06 Plug / Plug Back No Violations Inspect location, ten inch casing is present and sticks out of the ground by one foot. A steel plate cover has been welded onto the casing to seal it shut. The casing and cover have rusted through and is in poor condition. The existing hole is full with water. No record indicate well was plugged except the Ohio Fuel gas maps indicate the well was plugged.
