0298489361 2013-04-10 Production Wells No Violations Jeff Fry accompanied me on this inspection. This inspection was conducted to determine if the brine from the tank battery has impacted a nearby stream that is approximately 80 feet from the tanks. Water sampled from the stream with a Quantab test strip upstream and downstream from the GPS coordinate N 39.97556 W -82.24558 indicated that brine has not impacted the stream. Brine hauler Jim King arrived during inspection to haul a tank of water out and to pump out the brine inside the dike. Mr. King also spread lime inside the dike during inspection. Note: Time of inspection was approximately 8:30 a.m.
0313501438 2013-04-10 Production Wells No Violations Jeff Fry accompanied me as we met with Mr. Dick Hart, owner/operator of Marion Operating, at the tank battery for the Birtcher #1. The pumper for this well, Mr. Dave Lescalleet, was also present. During the meeting we discussed possible sources for the brine inside the dike and remediation plans. We decided that we would monitor the fluid level in the tank on the right when facing West to determine if it is leaking. Mr. Hart was instructed to call Mr. Jim King to haul in a load of fresh water to use to monitor the fluid level in the tank. Mr. Hart was informed that if the water level in the tank decreases as we monitor it that the tanks will need to be repaired or replaced. Note: Time of inspection 2:00 pm.
0399638528 2013-08-01 Production Wells No Violations This inspection was conducted as a NOV follow-up to NOV# 1369327696. The inspection revealed that the tanks have been removed from the dike. The dike has been removed and the area has been graded. The tank battery area has been reclaimed and hay has been applied to approximately half of the area. The new tank battery is being moved approximately 80 feet to the north.
0605421569 2013-08-08 Production Wells No Violations This inspection was conducted as a NOV follow-up to NOV# 1369327696. The inspection revealed that the tank battery area has been reclaimed and vegetation has been established. The (2) 100 barrel tanks have been turned and repaired. The new tank battery has been built and the tanks have been set inside an earthen dike lined with gravel. Identification is posted on the tanks. The new tank battery is located at N 39.97615 W -082.24565. Violation has been resolved.
1369327696 2013-04-09 Production Wells Violations Noted This inspection was conducted as part of a standard production well status check. The well was equipped with a pumping unit and motor. It was not pumping during inspection but valves on the wellhead were open. The well utilizes two separate tank batteries. The first tank battery is located at the top of the hill near the wellhead at N 39.97566 W -82.25212. It consists of (2) 100 barrel tanks and a gas separator inside an earthen dike. Proper identification is posted at this tank battery. The second tank battery is located at the bottom of the hill near the road at N 39.97582 W -82.24567. This tank battery consists of (2) 100 barrel tanks inside an earthen dike. Proper identification was posted at this tank battery. An inspection of this bottom tank battery revealed standing water inside the dike. A Quantab test strip indicated >5000 ppm for chloride. Standing water outside the dike near a drain valve for the dike also test >5000 ppm for chloride. A Quantab test strip indicated >400 ppm for chloride at N 39.97556 W -82.24558 which is within 5 feet of a stream. Scaling at the bottom of these tanks indicate that the tanks are in poor condition and might be allowing brine to be leaking. The company will be notified of this inspection and will need to find the source of the brine. If the tanks are leaking they will need to be removed and repaired or new tanks installed. Soil remediation might be needed if the tanks are found to be leaking. Photos were taken for documentation purposes.
1369921027 2013-04-26 Production Wells No Violations Jeff Fry accompanied me on this inspection. We met with Dave Lescalleet at the tank battery. The dike had several inches of water inside it. A Quantab test strip was used inside the dike and read >2000 ppm for chlorides. The water level in the tank when filled with freshwater on 4/15/2013 was 8 feet 7 inches. Mr. Lescalleet measured the tank today at 8 feet 5 inches. The inspection revealed that the tank appears to be leaking as the water level has dropped at least 2 inches. Mr. Hart will be notified of this inspection.
