| 1442262040 | 2015-09-14 | Production Wells | Violations Noted | On this day at 11:00 Am I received notification from a Chris Holmes with the Ohio EPA who indicated His office had received a complaint from a landowner by the name of Susan Ferguson who resides at 37570 County Road 2 East-Jerusalem Ohio. The complaint nature was of oil well production fluid being discharged onto the Earths surface. Inspector Eric Conrad and Myself both responded and upon inspection observed the production fluid flow line leading to 5 gallon bucket near the well, the product was draining out of the bucket into a defined ditch line of approximately 2 in width and traveling to a point near the property line border, with minor sign of stressed vegetation in the ditch line and across the property fence line. At a point of the last sign of impact near the fence line a soil sample was taken and titrate tested in 50 milliliters of distilled water for the presence of chlorides with no chlorides showing above 100 parts per million on a low level strip test. A fluid sample was taken directly from the production fluid outlet discharge point and tested for chlorides with the level exceeding both the low and high level chloride tests. A Company representative by the name of Lynn Secrest was on site and directions were given to cease surface discharge of the production fluid and set a production tank to recover the production fluid and post proper well identification. Also was noted was the absence of reported production for the last 2 years which will need followed up on also. The producer has been given 30 days to comply. |

Mr. Secrest indicate the well produces water only and is producing from the Berea Sand formation. We also discussed the lack of reported production for the past 2 reporting years. Mr. Yontz will contact the Division and confirm the production is being reported under the proper well. The well is also supplying the landowner with Domestic house gas. The producer also indicated the well production fluid will freeze in the winter and they have to stop pumping the well during cold months. |
