0003312887 2017-06-21 Orphan No Violations Today, I ran a depth finder down inside the casing and found a obstruction at 62.5.
0313852521 2017-06-20 Orphan No Violations Orphan well status inspection with fellow Orphan Well Inspector Cindy VanDyke: A weighted line attached to a fishing rod with depth counting reel was lowered into the wellbore to gauge its unobstructed depth. The weighted line traveled downhole to a depth of 62 feet. The well was steadily leaking brine and natural gas to the surface this day.
1486482142 2017-01-12 Orphan No Violations Orphan well investigation, accompanied by DOGRM Geologist Jake Glascock: This well was referred to the Division by the Morgan County Engineer, Mr. Stevan Hook, whom owns and farms the land adjacent to the well location. Upon inspection, it is observed that the well is idle, incapable of production, and is likely orphan. The well consists of 8.5 casing which is badly damaged and corroded and is open to the atmosphere. The well is activily discharging brine onto the ground surface and natural gas into the atmosphere. There is a vegetation scald area surrounding the well casing which measures 70 long by 40 wide. The scald area is inundated with produced brine mixed with rainwater, creating a ponded area. There is a depression 70 SW of the well casing which appears to be the drilling pit for the well which was never properly closed. Fluid laying in the scald area and pit area were tested with high and low-range Hach Quantabs and showed chloride levels of 6215+ and 453 ppm, respectively. The well is located 80 north of the banks of Bald Eagle Creek and along the edge of an agricultural field. The location is within the city limits of Stockport and is within the FEMA 100-year flood plain. There are no overhead or buried utilities in close proximity to the well location. No trees or other vegetation will need to be cleared in order to access the well. There is no existing lease road present, however a lane exists along the agricultural field which can be accessed 1400 to the west from CR-2. The landowner, Charles Guinn, will be contacted about the well for more information. The Site Evaluation Matrix score for the well is 251. Photos were taken
1496672665 2017-06-02 Orphan No Violations My inspection found the 8.625 casing bubbling gas and brine with much of the surrounding scald area dried up. The ground around the well is still soft and has large cracks with no vegetation, typical of a dried up pond. The gas is coming from the inside as well as the outside of the casing and bubbling at a steady rate with the casing about 8-10 inches above ground level. Access to this well is questionable, and I walked across the corn field this day with the corn only 2-3 inches tall. Pictures taken.
1496859039 2017-06-07 Orphan No Violations Inspection today included the engineer and surveyor to review the location for plugging. The location was dried out except for around the well where the brine and gas was still bubbling out. I have tried to contact Mr. Chew several times with no luck - I left a message - as he owns the ground the corn is on and we must cross his land to get to the well.
