| 1838227581 | 2004-08-16 | Plug / Plug Back | No Violations | WW 04-001 The Uniontown office received a phone call from Gloria McCullough at 9888 State Route 88, Garrettsville, Ohio (330-527-5016) reporting a deterioration in her water quality since the King well was plugged on July 7, 2004. The McCullough house is located approximately 500 feet east northeast of the King well. The complaint mentions odor, color, saltiness, silt and rust. On this date, I met with Ms. McCullough to discuss the problem and collect a water sample for Quantab analysis. The problem apparently started about the time that the well was plugged and has gotten progressively worse, to the point where they are bringing in drinking water. I collected a sample from the outside spigot located on the southeast corner of the house. After letting the water run fro several minutes, I did not notice any discoloration, silt or rust. There was an odor to the water. The Quantab analysis recorded a 4.8 on the low range Quantab which translates to a chloride content of 200 ppm. Ms. McCollough stated that she would send in the questionaire as soon as possible. While in the area, I stopped and spoke with Gail Stratton, the King well property owner. She stated that they have noticed an increase in the iron trapped in their iron filter and had to increase the filter size to accommodate the change. I asked her to let me know when they see a decrease in iron. |
