Contacted the landowner, Mr. Buckholtz, and he showed me 2 separate casings rising approximately 4 above ground level. Casing #1, was approximately 15 in diameter and had been orange peeled by Mr. Buckholtz some years back. I ran a weighted line to a depth of 14, and came up against something solid. (A later check of an OFG map showed this to be a plugged gas well, so it is presumed this is the top plug.) A check with a Sperian gas meter revealed no evident leakage. Mr. Buckholtz was advised of the Orphan Well program, and was informed that an investigation was forthcoming and he would be informed as to the findings. |
