Rig was on site and drilling over a period of 4-5 months. Met on site with Bob Harpster on 7/30/03. Drilling was gaining only 2-3 feet per day. There was no casing in the hole other than the 40 feet of plastic casing installed by the operator. A total depth of 270 feet was obtained. Water wells in the area are less than 100 feet deep as verified by the operator and Township Trustee. Consultation with Dave Hodges, Jeff Fry and Sam Faust agreed to allow the well to be plugged at 270 feet. Hole was 8 inches in diameter and 3.5 cu. yd. cement were calculated to fill the hole. Cement began returning to the formation at approximately 100 feet depth. A total of 5 cu.yd. were needed to plug the hole. Cement held at approximately 3 feet below ground level after 30 minutes. Pipe was cut off at 7 feet below ground level since this is a cemetary. Bob Harpster said an ID plate will be attached to the top of the well. |
